Door-to-door auto transport is the most convenient way to ship a car. Instead of dropping your vehicle at a distant terminal, your driver comes to you — picking up at your origin address and delivering as close to your destination as the carrier can safely and legally reach.
No terminal drop-offs or pickups — we come to you on both ends.
Skip the extra trips and coordination of terminal shipping.
Door-to-door service with 100% bumper-to-bumper coverage included.
Door-to-door auto transport means the carrier picks up your vehicle at your location and delivers it to your destination — as close to each address as the streets safely allow. There is no driving to a distant lot or arranging a second ride home. For the vast majority of customers, it is the simplest, most convenient way to ship a car, and it is included on every Liberty Auto Transport shipment.
In practice, the driver coordinates a time with you, inspects and loads the vehicle right there, and repeats the process at delivery. You hand over the keys at one door and collect your car at the other.
The alternative to door-to-door is terminal-to-terminal, where you drop your car at a storage lot and pick it up from another lot near the destination. Terminals can occasionally be cheaper, but they add hassle — extra driving, limited hours, and your car sitting in a lot between handoffs. Door-to-door avoids all of that, and because it is the industry norm, the price difference today is usually small. We focus on door-to-door so your move is as easy as possible.
The process is straightforward. After you get a quote and book, your assigned driver calls ahead to arrange a convenient pickup time and confirm access to your street. At pickup, the driver inspects the vehicle with you and records its condition on a bill of lading before loading. Your car then travels to its destination, and you have the driver's direct contact details to follow its progress along the way.
At delivery, the driver meets you at your destination address, you inspect the vehicle together against the same bill of lading, and the shipment is complete. You can see the full company process on our how it works page.
Full-size auto carriers are large — often around 75 to 80 feet — and some streets simply cannot accommodate them. Narrow residential roads, low-hanging trees, tight cul-de-sacs, gated communities, steep driveways, and dense city blocks can all make direct access unsafe or impossible. When that happens, the driver arranges to meet you a short distance away at a spot with room to load safely, such as a nearby large parking lot. It is a small, occasional step that keeps your vehicle and everyone else safe, and we coordinate it with you in advance.
Door-to-door works everywhere, but the experience varies by location. In the suburbs, the driver can usually reach your driveway or curb directly. In dense cities like Manhattan or Brooklyn, a nearby meeting point is more common because of traffic and narrow streets. In rural areas, the main consideration is distance from the interstate, which can affect timing. Whatever the setting, we plan the most convenient safe option for your address.
